An anoymous user asks
I stumbled onto Sandra and Woo via TV Tropes, I’m surprised I hadn’t heard of it before hand because of the ton of, uh, “Sexually charged content” despite the main cast being middle schoolers. Do you have any thoughts on it?

I read Sandra and Woo for a while as a comic to talk about here, but it rarely inspired me to write anything and I dropped it from my bookmarks in one of my occasional purges. It’s a comic that has a recurring bit of “Girls lie about scandalous things in order to fluster boys”, which some people find off-putting,

and also a recurring boomerish bit of “boy I hate my wife women amiright fellas” undercurrent which some people also find off-putting.

I can see why some people are uncomfortable with a comic about horny teenagers that were actually drawn like teenagers and not 28-year-olds playing sexy teens on the CW, but honestly most of what I’ve seen is the kids insinuating something sexy might happen offscreen in an attempt to get a rise out of each other, compared to, say,

various massively popular shounen manga playing sexual assault of teenage girls for comedy. I never really got the sense that the German dude writing this comic was jerking off to it.

I mean, shit dude, Sandra and Woo could go next to LuAnn and Arlo and Zits in newspapers and no one would find it odd

Now, to be clear, “I’m 95% sure the dude who makes it isn’t a pedophile” is not a super-ringing endorsement. Sandra and Woo wouldn’t stand out next to newspaper comics on quality, either. It’s a fairly generic boomer comic from Germany that just happens to be on the internet.  It’s a 5/10 that people freak out about more than is warranted.
