This is my feeling also. At the start of this review, I saw “the pacing is too fast” and thought “no it isn’t, it’s slower than molasses, what the hell?”

But I can’t deny the evidence the review puts out. The pacing just feels slow in hindsight because so much of what happens is irrelevant – the story runs a marathon, but ends up ten feet from the starting line.

I like to pad my comment count 😛

Oh, and something else I forgot too point out. Early on you say “the first storyline of Dresden Codak,” but later you use the phrase “the first storyline of Dark Science” which I think is what you really mean.

* Your bullet point plot synopsis is mostly in chronological order, but “Asmodea is introduced” should go right before “Thomas Caspar is introduced.” Asmodea was the “Office of Distraction” eye candy woman Vonnie tries to be friends with, but I can see why you wouldn’t recognize her as the same character several pages later when she’s disguised as a security officer if you haven’t had multiple months between pages to retain that information.
